Dr. Arash Vahid

Growing up surrounded by a family of dentists, Dr. Vahid’s mother was an orthodontist, and his father worked as a pediatric dentist. He got an early start working in this environment starting at the age of 12 when he helped out in his father’s dental practice.

Dr. Vahid and his sister decided to follow in their parents’ footsteps, each entering the dental field. As a dentist near Mahwah, he oversees the team at AV Dental Associates of Ramsey and enjoys helping patients out of pain while also improving their appearance and creating opportunities for individuals to embrace a better quality of life.

After completing his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, he went on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at NYU College of Dentistry. This led him to pursue a two-year dental implant and restorative maxi-course at NYU before traveling to the Dominican Republic and providing free extractions and implant placement for individuals living in underserved areas.

Dr. Vahid’s commitment to the field has not stopped, though. He remains an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, SPEAR, and the New Jersey Dental Association.

When he’s not busy changing and improving smiles, he is likely to be found spending time with his wife, Samira, and their three boys, Ryan, Kevin, and Cameron. They spend much of their time playing sports, like tennis, basketball, and soccer.

The team at AV Dental are the best! I have always hated the way my teeth looked and hated coming to the dentist. But everyone who works at this office makes me feel well taken care of. They are professional, comforting, and friendly! I’ve never loved my smile more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dr. Vahid is a dentist near Mahwah who is here to answer your questions and provide the most accurate information about oral health. Over the years, our team at AV Dental Associates of Ramsey has received countless inquiries from prospective patients who want to know where they can find the best dental care, what to do if they can’t afford to see a dentist, and how to go about scheduling an emergency visit. If these are some of the same questions you have, keep reading below.

Where can I find the best place to get dental work done?

We get this question a lot. While we suggest that you simply make an appointment with our office, we know your decision to choose a dental office that is right for you is important. To help in your pursuit, here are some criteria to consider:

  • Location: Do you want a practice close to home or work?
  • Services: Are you looking for comprehensive or specialized care?
  • Dental Insurance: Is it important to see someone in-network or are you open to those out-of-network as well?
  • Family-Focused: Is it necessary to choose a practice that caters to everyone in your family?

Identifying which components are most important will help you narrow down your search and select the right dental practice for your oral healthcare needs.

AV Dental Associates of Ramsey offers comprehensive services and is conveniently located for patients living in Mahwah and its surrounding communities. We’re also in-network with nearly all PPO dental insurance plans.

What should I do if I can’t afford the dentist?

Do not assume that skipping your regular dental checkups and cleanings or putting off a troublesome toothache is okay. These missed opportunities for professional treatment can lead to worsening symptoms that require timelier and costlier care.

If you have dental insurance, use it. Most companies will pay most or all of the cost of preventive services, and they’ll cover anywhere from 50-80% of minor and major restorative treatments. If you don’t have private dental insurance, your dentist may offer an in-house membership plan or access to flexible financing.

Dr. Vahid is pleased to provide multiple payment options to keep treatment affordable. Whether you choose to use your dental insurance plan or enroll in our in-house membership program, the choice is yours. You can also inquire about signing up for a flexible financing plan to help you stay within your budget.

How can I schedule an emergency dental visit?

The moment a dental injury occurs, the first thing you should do is call our office. A member of our team will take down your information and schedule a time for you to come in for help. We want to alleviate your discomfort as soon as possible; however, we’ll be sure to provide you with first-aid tips that you can use at home to manage the pain in the meantime.

Although it’s comforting to know you have an emergency dentist who can provide the timely care you need, it’s always best to prevent these types of injuries if you can. Regular checkups and cleanings at our dental office near Mahwah can help lower your chances of needing an emergency appointment in the first place.

What is required to become a dentist?

To become a licensed and practicing dentist in the U.S., you must first graduate with your bachelor’s degree before enrolling in one of the 67 accredited dental schools throughout the country. Here, you will spend three years working toward a DDS or DMD degree. Once you graduate, you will have the option to pursue general dentistry or a specialization.

The American Dental Association (ADA) recognizes 12 specializations, some of which include endodontics, orthodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, pedodontics, and more. To pursue one of these areas, you’ll be required to enroll in additional educational courses as well as receive hands-on training.

To maintain licensure as a dentist, you’ll need to complete a designated number of continuing education hours each year.
